Weight Gain Before and After

There are effects on the body of a gain in weight or loss. The blood flow will be affected in the body after a weight gain or loss. Studies have shown that there are specific functions in the body that will significantly affect the way that the blood flows through the body.

In the study the endothelial function is impaired after a large weight gain. The Mayo Clinic in the United States performed this study. The study was aimed at the effects of weight gain on the endothelial functioning. The cells of the endothelial after a weight gain will cause a blockage in the blood flow. This is dangerous because of the risk of heart attack or even stroke.

A weight gain by as little as nine pounds is enough to cause a normally lean person to suffer these ill effects. This is an important discovery because it is known that the endothelial that is not functioning correctly can cause heart problems but the connection to weight gain is a new finding.

This was the first study on the effect of weight gain on the endothelial functioning. This study was a blind study that involved a group consisting of forty-three healthy volunteers who had a weight of a normal amount. The age of the participants was on average between eighteen and a half and twenty-nine years old. The average age were twenty-nine with an amount of forty two percent of them female. This group was not on any kind of medication at the time of the study.

The group underwent a diet maintenance plan that was supervised by a professional dietician. The group was advised to gain or maintain weight during the study. Thirty-five of the group gained weight while the rest maintained their weight.

The group that was advised to gain weight was allowed to gain up to nine pounds. The functions of the endothelial were monitored to see if there was a change. The results were monitored through the use of ultrasound. All of the ultrasound measurements were taken at the same time.

The measurements were taken during the beginning of the study, after eight weeks weight gain and then again after sixteen weeks of their weight loss. The group that maintained their weight was measured at the beginning of the study and then after eight weeks.

During the course of the study the people who gained weight had an increase of their fat in the body as well. The brachial artery’s flow measurements demonstrated a decrease during the period of weight gain.

The flow levels showed an improvement when the gained weight was eventually lost. This shows that the flow is directly related to weight gain and can be improved through weight loss.
